THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DULUTH HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM SATURDAY TO NOON CST SUNDAY.
* TIMING AND LOCATION: SNOW WILL LIFT NORTH OVER THE SAINT CROIX RIVER VALLEY AND INTERSTATE 35 CORRIDOR SATURDAY MORNING... RAPIDLY ACCUMULATING FOR INLAND LOCATIONS... THROUGH THE AFTERNOON.
* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: WIDESPREAD SNOWFALL TOTALS OF 8 INCHES OR MORE CAN BE EXPECTED INLAND FROM LAKE SUPERIOR. THIS INCLUDES THE LOCATIONS OF AITKIN... HINCKLEY... MOOSE LAKE... CLOQUET... HERMANTOWN... OVER THE HILL IN DULUTH AND ISLAND LAKE IN NORTHEAST MINNESOTA... AS WELL AS SIREN... SPOONER... AND SOLON SPRINGS IN NORTHWEST WISCONSIN.
LOCATIONS ALONG THE IMMEDIATE SHORE OF LAKE SUPERIOR... INCLUDING DOWNTOWN AND LAKESIDE DULUTH... AND SUPERIOR... CAN EXPECT RAIN SATURDAY WITH NO SNOW ACCUMULATION.
* MAIN IMPACT: THE WEIGHT OF THE SNOW... COMBINED WITH STRONG WINDS MAY BRING DOWN TREE LIMBS AND POWER LINES. IN ADDITION... TRAVEL WILL BECOME DIFFICULT DUE TO SNOW COVERED ROADS AND PERIODS OF WHITE OUT CONDITIONS.

One of the reasons I moved to California - I wouldn't have to put up with situations like this.
